Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen

Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen
This feature is an eye-opening depiction of our conditioned gender-specific anxieties. Trans director, Sam Feder, reveals how notable trans leaders like Lilly Wachowski, Laverne Cox and Yance Ford resisted gender stereotypes at Hollywood.

Movies like the L word and Boys Don’t Cry have screened a demeaning history that has evolved with humor and complexity but has left a trace. By examining our perceptions on trans characters, this doc digs deep to unearth unexamined assumptions by reframing iconic characters with a new lens. It gives us insight into the startling trans revolution that challenged media’s portrayal of habitual misunderstanding for decades.
