“Minari” an upcoming Korean immigrant drama premiered at Sundance film festival 2021 left people moved. It stars our very own Steven Yeun who played Glenn Rhee at “The Walking Dead”. It is directed and written by Lee Isaac Chung and the drama film is actually based on Chung’s childhood.
The director explains how struggleful time it was when his Korean family moved to Arkansas. He had a beautiful yet troubled memories from his upbringing days when his parents had to go through a lot being immigrants. The drama further includes his father’s hard work to initiate a farm set up and his eye-watering relationship with his grandmother.
After the premier on 2021 Sundance festival the film received heart-warming reviews from everyone. Chung in an interview said” I wanted to shape the narrative to have different pockets of how this family might not make it, might not survive”
Before such movies were hard to put up at the screen but now because of some labels like Neon and A24, many movies like “Minari” which rocked its premier gets a chance to be one of the best Sundance 2021 movies.
