Sundance Parking Blues? Ultimate Guide for Parking at Sundance Film Festival

Sundance Parking Blues

Sundance Film Festival hits in January 2021 but there are a lot of preparations to be made in advance. One of them being, getting to know how you will survive the Sundance Film Festival parking situation.

If you have visited the Sundance Film Festival before, you will know exactly how to navigate through Park City. But if this is going to be your first trip to the nation’s premier event, there is a lot for you to know if you don’t intend on getting lost while searching for free parking near Sundance Square.

Getting Around in Park City

The Sundance Film Festival is known for being an open-to-all event so expect lots of crowds, so much that people are probably going to be bumping into one another.

Every year, almost 120,000 people visit the Sundance Film Festival which makes getting around the city quite difficult. If you want to make your commute easier, knowing how parking for Sundance Film Festival really works can lessen your hassle.

The best way to move around in Park City is to make use of their free public transit system. Sundance Film Festival is not known for having a lot of parking spaces and the ones they have are either too expensive or overly crowded by the time you get to the venue.

The Transport Director of the Sundance Institute has always advised the visitors to make use of the available shuttle system at the Park City. The institute also suggests parking their cars at their lodges or parking them at the Park and Ride Areas. The official website will also keep you posted regarding the Sundance parking situation and how you can navigate your way through less crowded routes.

Some latest additions in the Sundance commute

Some people do not prefer using the shuttle systems and want to travel in a car with a comfortable. During the Sundance Film Festival 2019, Uber became the official ride partner of the Sundance Festival.

Uber sets up lounges for the visitors at different junctions where they can wait and call in for the cab. These lounges offer comfortable seating and food options so people can wait in peace. The best part is, the Uber drivers are well-aware of the crowd and rush situations around the venues and they also have access to free parking at Sundance Film Festival which makes them really ideal to use.

Last year, Uber also announced that an exclusive Uber chopper will also be making an appearance at the festival to bring ease to the festival-goers.

With the help of Uber helicopter service, you can take chopper rides from Salt Lake City to Park City conveniently. These helicopter rides will not be cheap but they will certainly get you to your destination within minutes.

Sundance Institute will also make private transportation available to all its visitors so in case you want to rent a car, you will also be able to do that easily.

Sundance Parking Tips

Parking at Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City is less crowded and easier to find as compared to Park City.

Salt Lake City is far less filled with people once the festival begins, which makes it easier to find a Sundance parking lot. Street parking may be somewhat difficult in SLC but here are parking tips for some of the Sundance venues;

  • Rose Wagner Theater – This Theater is surrounded by metered parking which is free after 08:00 p.m. and during the weekends. You will also find a parking lot across the street that you will be able to get access to through case.
  • Broadway Theaters – The Broadway Theater SLC parking will be found in the garage next to the building on 300 South. You can park from levels four-eight in order to get parking discounts.
  • Tower Theater – Tower Theater is where you will get maximum parking access, in front of the theater and on the surrounding streets.
  • Salt Lake Library Theater – There is parking access in the garage below the library that you can get access from 400 South. This parking is free for the first hour but will be charged later on.
You can also get ride-sharing services and public transportation for navigating through Salt Lake City. The Sundance Film Festival transit map will also help you effectively if you encounter any hindrance during your stay.
