The Earth Is Blue as an Orange

The Earth Is Blue as an Orange
Director Iryna Tsilyk’s documentary follows a meta-storytelling approach about a single mother and her four children under the siege in Ukraine. As eldest Mira dreams of becoming a cinematographer, the family helps create stylised scenes as the bombs descend in the neighbouring region.

In between the real war, her siblings rehearse lines watching Mira apply to film school. The project covers the trauma of war and how they cope with their mundane existence with the help of a camera working in unison to create a meaning out of a meaningless conflict.
