Vitalina Varela

Vitalina Varela
Vitalina reaches London after waiting to come here for more than 25 years, only to be told by another woman that they had buried her husband three days ago. Her world collapses and she has nowhere to go and live as her husband’s home is not hers anymore. Here she is, homeless and jobless, to find her new existence with only a brick shack a newly widowed title, with nothing in her name.

The epic cinematography in this film, with stairs that seemingly go nowhere, the light illuminating the sadness on her face and crumbling roofs, all depict too well her homelessness and the fear of the new unknown world.
